We all knew the situation with regards to coronavirus was going to get worse, I mean what else could I possibly be talking about, coronavirus is everywhere! As the UK is set to enter another week of lockdown, I am filled with a sense of materialistic regret. My capitalist nature assured me holding onto my money in such strange times would be wise, but I was wrong… I was so very WRONG! I could be sitting comfortably in my isolation right now with a kill:death ratio of 2.5, a library of material to read, and the smile of a happy little consumer on my face… but I guess it’s too late now.

PS4…

As the world freezes over, the male population of planet earth seems to be coping with impending doom by venturing into the world of video games, and other forms of media of course that are a little more questionable; I’ll let you use your imagination with that one for the sake of keeping this post PG 13.

Who can blame them right?! When I was a young spring chicken making my first adventure into the virtual world of games, I think I spoke to some of my friends more in pre game lobbies than I did face to face in real life! If coronavirus was sweeping the globe back then I would have been more than comfortable with staying at home, this I can assure you.

Books…

Now, I know what you’re gonna say: use a kindle, use a tablet or you can even use your phone and I appreciate all those methods of reading. However, truth be told I’m a little bit pretentious and a little bit of a hipster, who loves the real thing. In fact the older the better… although I probably wouldn’t read a first edition, way too precious! My tragic first world problems of reading preferences have left me in a pool of self-indulgent sulky patheticness, these truly are sad times. I should really get over and grow up. But I kind of just love books.

Copious Amounts of Alcohol…

Oh how I miss the pub. Don’t we all? This is quite an obvious one but an important one nonetheless, drinking is an integral part of British culture and this coronavirus is being racist by depriving me of my packet of crisps and cold refreshing pint. I’m sure the flood of people attending their local will be quite something when this lockdown ends.

Toilet Roll…

I’m not even going to tell you why I wish I had more of this, I’m sure you can all work it out.

A Desk…

This is a bit of a weird one to be honest. Any of you who have been following my instagram page will be aware that I’m stuck in the family home due to lockdown. I love my family but the only trouble is I do not have access to a desk… so writing this blog and doing uni work has been an interesting experience to say the least! In fact I’ve even constructed my own desk using an old towel rack, a slab of wood I found in the garage, a few of those precious books I was on about and a shoe, believe it or not. Here’s a picture:

Making the Best out of Things…

At times like these we need to poke fun at ourselves and see the bigger picture. That’s precisely why this blog post came into existence. Although we’re stuck inside and there are things we wish we had, or things we wish we had done, we’re lucky. Lucky to be alive, lucky to be healthy and lucky to have such amazing people at the NHS looking after us. Times are going to be tough and things are going to get real boring round here but I’m happy. We should all be happy with what we have. We should all be grateful and we should all try and smile.

I’m still going to get a PS4 though… so I’ll be seeing you on the battlefield!
